Achilles Tendon Pain

The Achilles tendon (tendo calcaneus) is the common end tendon of the three-headed calf muscle (musculus triceps surae), which consists of the two-headed calf muscle (musculus gastrocnemius) and the clod muscle (musculus soleus), and connects it to the heel. It is the thickest and strongest tendon in the human musculoskeletal system.

We distinguish between three types of Achilles tendon pain:

- Achillodynia/acute Achilles tendonitis:

- Chronic Achilles tendonitis:

- Achilles tendon tear/partial tear:

  • Blockages and tensions around the Achilles tendon
